What We Lost in the Hurricane
I was most definitely touched by Gabriela Matias’ article “What We Lost in the Hurricane”. I can not imagine looking out my living room window watching how such a monster destroy everything one treasures. From one day to another, a whole new place is transformed and the hometown you once knew is no longer there. Puerto Rico and its loyal citizens have lost their homes and values, it will now take unity and support to help rebuild the disasters created by this hurricane. As Matias mentioned, the broken down homes and fallen trees were not the worst part of the hurricane but the people standing among it in despair. Matias clearly explained how the event that occured with Hurricane Maria, will mark her island and its inhabitants for years to come. I wholeheartedly admired Matias’ honesty within her article, and wish for her and Puerto Rico as a whole to stay strong and rebuild stronger than before.
