Motivational lies you heard

People love to listen to motivational phrases. But when you start to get into things further or see things more clearly, we get to know that the same thing that inspired you to do better is now absorbing you. It's a death trap, and some people find it harder to escape the trap. Yes, we can never completely write off the fact that 'inspiration' is an integral part of our life that pushes us forward to do better every day. But it's never too late to realize that 'inspiration' comes from our actions. Now let's familiarize yourself with some of the worst motivational lines you'll ever hear.

1. Never give up

This one is worth up for a discussion. Shouldn't you stop doing the same thing again and again if things aren't working out for you? Of course, you may go through days that are slightly off-color, and by the end of the day, you cannot be one hundred percent productive always, can you? I am not urging you to detach yourself from your work if you can't have the desired result. But if you find it extremely hard to engage in the work, then it does mean that you should give up. People want different results, but they do the same thing every day. Have you ever noticed people who are exceptionally passionate about something? They may overlook their despair even though they are strenuously working on it. Be responsible and find your respective field of creativeness and passion. But there are indeed some exceptional cases where you shouldn't give up. Here are some of the things to notice when you decide to give up -

·   If you frequently feel uncomfortable engaging in the work for a long time, then it's up to you to make the decision.

·   Be sure to check the intentions of your goal and if you find delight in the rewards and not in the process. You are more passionate about your goals rather than your work.

·   Always keep in mind that the source of your motivation shouldn't be a two-minute YouTube video or a single motivational line. Instead, rely on your hard work itself as your source of inspiration.

·   Make sure not to be too silly to leave all your work behind when you have a minor fall or tumble.

If you seriously wished for something doesn't imply that you deserved it. The amount of work you invested matters more than anything. Ironically saying, people want to reach a particular height, but they aren't yet ready to go through the sufferings. Next time, when you hear somebody say 'Never give up.' think about it this way, you can never force your crush to love you back if he/she isn't actually into you. Perhaps might have worked in films. Love is a feeling, so is passion.

2. Failure to success paradox / Success awaits

Imagine a kid living in the busiest of streets in India who dreamt of studying at Harvard, struggling to meet both ends of his life. Having gone through tons of rejections and obstacles, this same kid worked hard enough to get accepted to Harvard! Sounds crazy, right? (P.S: This story is entirely made up, and I happened to read it in Quora). And yes, these are the kind of stories people want to hear nowadays. Try to imagine yourself in the kid's shoes. Wow certainly feels overwhelming! The fact that people still blindly fall for these stereotypes is disgraceful. While the media are thriving to hear the stories of the triumphs, we ignore the failed ones. This is just one side of the world. Now, let me show you the other side of the world where individuals have failed and failed and so on, still waiting for their glory. Not every story ends in a soothing and desired way which is a euphemism for saying some of our lives end in misery. But do you know what? These individuals don't just sit on their couch crying over their failures because they comprehend 'failure' is inevitable. They are not even on the hunt for success/happiness.

The human species who started evolving from the oldest of times always had this gut feeling to acknowledge the triumphs and disregard the losers. Sometimes we forget to realize that success is not a destination, neither is happiness. Try not to plan things out thinking that if you've worked hard diligently for a long specific period, you could start to live your dream life thereafter. Goals restrict happiness, period. The beauty of life will be lost in the way if you stop working after you've reached a particular height. A man won't be 'happy' or 'successful' unless he halts looking for the same. Sure, that's a bit of cliché advice. The metrics we use for our daily day 'success' lets us down, and stop us from appreciating the real joys around us. Being dissimilar from one other, how come we are disappointed about others fulfilling their metrics? 'Comparing' is a heavy drug, but feel free to use it once in a while to compare yourself with your past. Life is defined by problems, with better problems come better solutions. Never misinterpret life in such a way that, after all the miseries you've gone through, someday success awaits; because they never do. We, the human species, act as if we know how the story ends and pull ourselves out of the main stories. Regard failures as 'lessons', and I recommend taking 'lessons' every day.

3. Stop listening to others

This one tops my list of the worst motivational phrases; why? As we live in a society, there's a need to embrace the fact that we all are codependent. One ceases to exist without the integral affection of the families and loved ones. Why would someone detach from society and opt for a lonely life? Taking some time to learn the feedback from the people around you, is a good habit to follow in the modern world. What if they are trying to turn your back? Then, the better step would be to talk with them. Living in a society driven by values, understand that we are disturbing others' values at each instance of our lives. The last thing you can do is reach out to "better" people and hear from them. We always had that wanting to hear good about ourselves; that's a sort of entitlement and it's a human instinct. Instead of being always right, maintain your perseverance while listening to others regardless of whether they had overwhelming views on you or a bunch of negatives. Long story short, relationships and connections matter at the end of the day.

4. Staying positive

Learning is an everlasting process that benefits us and society. We acquire true knowledge when we turn our negatives into a bunch of affirmatives. Our dharma is fulfilled if we can impact society in one way or the other.

Persons who stay positive the whole time sounds fake; they turn into an enlightened being. We are living in the 21st century where people go through all sorts of suffering, that's a known FACT. Humankind suffers a lot from their imagination than reality. Are we supposed to stay positive all the time when we are aware something is wrong? No single soul on this earth can have "happy" or "serotonin" hormones flowing through their brain constantly; that's a FACT. A healthy mental state isn't about feeling overwhelming emotions every time. Instead, it's about the acceptance of your negative side; that's a FACT. The necessity for a powerful mind is not to hide your insecurities, but to accept your flaws and live through those insecurities. Being realistic is one of the keys to a better life. Staying positive will make you feel you are extraordinary and take you far away from the world of reality. "People" have this tendency to blindly follow the stories of "extraordinary" which puts enormous pressure on the shoulders of the common. Defining yourself in the most uncomplicated way possible will help you get rid of the pressure. Wiping away negativity will only reinforce new forms of negativity. "Make your mind your closest friend." says an ancient samurai. Try to talk to your mind hereafter, note down your positives & negatives; try to give equal priority to your inner emotions. "People" nowadays fail to see what exactly matters in their life. Happiness is everywhere; it's only a matter of grabbing them. But we look ahead of ourselves up in the sky, try taking a moment to look down in the ground; there is your family waiting for you, your "home" is calling you, "live" those moments with your closed ones, take a second to be "grateful" for whatever you have; now that's a FACT.

Conclusion: Motivation kills! They quickly escalate into a drug that you may have to intake at regular intervals of time. Remember, you can be a free bird if you let it be or an aggressive animal if you want.

Have a good day!
