The Magnolia Tree
I remember those days at the Magnolia Tree
Where we would just rest there, happily
We’d sit there in rain, or in snow, or in sleet
And our eyes would meet B
But age took its toll, and we’d stop resting there
As gray shades consumed our old, thin hair
Our sky grew dark, and we knew that goodbye
Was coming in quick time
We were with each other for our lifetime
She was my moon, and all was fine
Until she waned, and a shadow was cast
Her time had passed
The galaxy cried for what we had lost
She helped me live long, but what was the cost
She was my love, my soul and my life
And her loss has caused me grave strife
The others have gone, but I still remain,
My head and my heart in tremendous pain,
And right there I fell, onto my knees,
At the roots of our Magnolia Tree
Oh death, I plead, take me as well
And let me leave this place I dwell
And Hark! My death has come to me,
At these old roots of the Magnolia Tree
