Lyric Poem-Whales
Lyric Poem
Whales
Have you ever seen a whale?
Whales in an ocean, tossed by a gale.
You see the spray fly, slapped by a tail.
Majestic mammals, spotted as you sail.
Mist puffing up from a blowhole
It slowly comes, floating down
Across the ocean like a carpet
Looking like a princess’s gown.
A long dark shape
Drifting through the water like a magician’s cape.
The whale slides through a large, rocky gape
And slips out the other side, like a long roll of tape.
The whale slides away to join its pod.
Together they swim out into the deep, blue sea
Exploring the oceans of the whole wide world.
And if we are lucky enough, we just might see a whale or two, you and me.
