Haley's Song
When I hear Haley on the radio sing in
Her song “That’s what you get when you let your heart win,”
My heart begins to freeze
Is this really who I want to be?
Or be with? For the rest of my life?
Doubt, pain, and strife,
You wanna make me your wife
But you stab me with your shiny sharp knife
When you say my hair looks g**
Is this the price I must pay?
For the benefit of your love?
You say I’m fat, you’re so far above
You’re on the pedestal
While I’m on the hard tile floor of the hall
Crying out again because your criticism kills
You’re quick to judge, and when you yell, my eyes begin to spill
You crush me with your words
Can you see this hurts?
How cause me so much pain
What does it do for you? What is there to gain?
When I hear Haley on the radio sing in
Her song “That’s what you get when you let your heart win,”
I believe her; I wonder how much more meanness I can take
Let me breathe in between making me hurt- For God’s sake!
