Mimic of Sick by Shel Silverstein
I cannot go to bed tonight,
thought Dylan Butler Wright.
There's way to much for me to do,
like watch movies and TV too!
I have more video games to play
than I could find time for today.
Then all the songs I must download
If only I could find my Itunes code.
Next I'll log on to Facebook
It'll take hours just to look
at newsfeeds and posts on my wall.
I like the pictures best of all.
I'll see which friends are still awake,
and text them til it's way too late.
I'll get hungry so I'll go
snack on ice cream and cookie dough.
Next I'll have a stomach ache
and need to take a potty break.
Sitting there it'll cross my mind
My homework's not done and I'm behind!
I must study Spanish vocab,
write a news report and a bio lab.
A Romeo test and a quiz in math,
I'd rather take a bubble bath.
Now I'm panicked and full of sorrow-
I'm supposed to give my speech tomorrow!
Oh no! This is my worst nightmare!
I jerk awake from such a scare.
Thank God I really slept last night.
It was all a dream and I'm alright.
I'm ready for my speech today-
and no more nightmares I pray!
