what is a lie?
is it how i used to be with him
and feel his steely strong limbs under mine?
or is it what i told myself when i said
"i can keep promises"?
or is it your entire life, a machine,
a fake heartbeat to survive on
so others won't destroy you?
is it how you don't mind throwing
yourself into these worn blue
jeans until you get caught?
is it how you hurl knives into my back
and tell him i was never worth his time?
or is it how you never try to change?
you never see the "i" in "lie".
