Looking
Those eyes you wish you hadn’t seen,
the emotion behind them; strong.
The things they think, like kerosene,
a stare you don’t hold for long.
A tear scrolling down her face,
She blinks it back so quickly.
You feel so out of place,
Her sleeves are layered thickly.
The bully shoves him down the hall,
A friendly little game.
You stare through the wall,
Yet you fill with shame.
The old man who stands alone
Waving a cardboard sign.
You never trust his heart
To go and simply dine.
No one ever listens you say,
No one ever cares.
But look back to everyday,
and remember their vacant stares.
