I come back to this class

and I look around,

once again.

The teacher is still

boring.

The students are still

black and white.

And once again,

I am still in color.

My color has not yet

faded away.

It makes me wonder

why my fellow students

don't see the world

as I do.

What is it that

they lack that

I obtain?

I look around the class

looking for something that

could tell me.

But there is nothing.

Am I just different

than them?

Is there something special

about me?

Or,

am I just broken.

During my time in

thought and visiting a new

world,

the bell rings.

As I'm about to

step out the door

the teacher calls me back.

'I know you've been seeing color.'

she says.

'Do you know how I know?'

she asked and I shook my head.

'Because I am the same as you.'

I didn't know what she

ment,

until she told me

that the world chooses

someone every

twenty years to be able

to see the gift it hid.

I asked her why it hid

color from everyone and

she told me

it was because

some people thought color

defined who you were

on the inside.

In order to keep peace amoung

us all, it hid it away

for only those who care

for all.
