The German Shepherd
He’s standing there with his eyes pointed right at me
You can see all the muscles tense in his body
His breathing starts to increase to a much faster pace
His stride is long and with no hesitation
There are no breaks--it is one fluid motion
And it’s all done with so much excitement
His tongue is hanging out and
It’s hiding 42 sharp, powerful teeth
You tense for just a moment as thoughts race through your head
It all goes away when your eyes meet
His deep brown eyes pull you into a pool of loneliness
He wants a home
You suddenly feel yourself drifting away
And the image of him starts to disappear
As you wake up you realize it was just a dream
There is no perfect dog
There is no excitement and loneliness
It was just your imagination
I love dogs.
