Mural's of Nature
Aligning the cottage, covered entirely,
wings frozen,
motionless.
Lives short,
lifeless I say,
trapped alongside a cottage they lay.
Murals of friends and family,
complete infestation of the winged intruder.
Not everyone sees.
Not everyone knows.
Not everyone laughs,
“Oh, those darn flies!”
Yet for my family,
a tradition I suppose.
fishflies are beauty
of memories long ago.

This poem was a poem specifically about my experience with nature that is viewed as a tradition between my family and I. We had to write a piece in class that was something in nature that is not usually viewed as beautiful, but in fact the opposite. That is why I chose these fishflies because, yest they are a pain, yes they are gross, but it is viewed as a tradition, a constant laugh and enjoyment that my family and I enjoy when we go up north for a vacation to our cottage.
