Waterfall
*Step*
Pellets of water pummel my face,
leaving pain in their path.
Harsh winds force my eyes closed,
wet hair whipping my skin.
Burdensome weight pouring onto me,
back involuntarily buckling.
*Step*
The rain and winds calm,
my eyes still unable to open,
each drop a bullet against my face.
Cool water surrounds me,
serene and soothing,
a complete contrast to its atmosphere.
*Step*
I attempt to open my eyes,
but water weaves its way into the opening,
eyes slamming shut as quick as they opened.
My arms fly forward,
struggling to shield me from the storm,
crouching back into the cool waters.
*Step*
The loud static-like noise fades,
face finally regaining feeling,
water that was once bullets is now drops.
I turn around to face the storm,
now able to open my eyes
to the sight of a beautiful waterfall.
