Poetic Proof
Poems are meant for meanings,
They provide similes
That no human could possibly entirely relate to.
Some cause you to smile,
Others fill you with hate
But I seem to fall for the ones
That are much too bittersweet,
Where he didn't get the girl
But he found himself trying.
Poems are meant for feelings.
They provide so much emotion,
You'd swear it were an old soap opera.
Some cause you to cry
And other to laugh
But I seem to fall for the ones
That make you feel indescribable inside.
Poems are meant for rainy days and sunny skies.
They provide shelter
That no one needs
But everyone wants.
But I seem to fall for the ones
Where you sometimes need to get hurt.
Poems are meant for movement.
They provide such flow,
Moving easily, word to word,
But I seem to fall for the ones
Not so mellifluous,
Where the words don't quite meet.
Poems are meant for other people
Who know of life's ups and it's downs.
Of love
and of hate.
They provide such insight.
But I seem to fall for the ones
That prove
Poems aren't meant for me.
