Two Hearts Broken
One event shook her world,
She raised to the occasion and won,
But she was forever scarred.
She loved him to death,
She knew that he was the one,
Yet he never looked at her the same way.
His eyes only focused on her best friend,
His eyes never left her best friend,
He never saw her break.
He never realized that he was a target,
He never knew how she truly felt,
He never would understand her.
She didn’t have the courage.
She didn’t have the opportunity.
She didn’t want rejection.
So she let her best friend have the man of her dreams.
She gave up.
She surrender to the world.
He thought she didn’t like him.
He thought she hated him.
He thought she would reject him.
He gave up.
He took the second best and that is her best friend.
He surrender to the world.
She needed to move on.
She needed closure.
She needed someone new.
He needed a savior.
He needed to ignore the pain.
He needed to forget about her.
She wanted to stay.
She wanted to be in his arms.
She wanted to let her heart win.
He wanted to be there for her.
He wanted to have her in his arms.
He wanted to listen to his heart.
She missed him.
She missed his laugh.
She missed his smile.
She missed everything about him.
He missed the way she scrunches her nose when she smiles.
He missed her natural beauty.
He missed her loveable laugh.
He missed everything that made her unique.
Two hearts were broken by their own doing.
Two hearts that never would have shattered if only they had the courage to express their feelings to one another.
Two hearts ripped at the seams and held together by tape. Only stitches could hold the hearts forever.
He needs her to save his heart before it freezes over.
And she needs him to melt away the ice that covers her heart.
