The Climb
I see an ant marching up a rocking flower.
As I watch, I wonder
if it knows how high it is,
if it recognizes the risk of the climb.
Does it not see that the faster it ascends,
the more it puts at risk?
Does it not understand that the higher it goes,
the harder it will fall?
How does it shrug off the fear of failure?
A gust of wind bends the quivering stem
and the ant, after falling to the ground,
immediately staggers back to the base
and begins the climb again.
