I Am What I Am
I am a hippie, I am an artist, and I am a nerd.
I wonder if the tape will peel the paint off my wall.
I hear my future seducing me and history laughing at me.
I want to finish crocheting my friend’s hat.
I am a hippie, an artist, and a nerd.
I pretend I’m not listening, but I am.
I feel the pulsing ambition in my dreams.
I touch the art museum’s ancient furniture when no one is looking.
I worry about everything because I’m a Virgo.
I cry because I laugh too hard every single day of my life.
I am a hippie, an artist, and a nerd.
I understand I will change the world if I want to.
I dream every night yet don’t remember a thing.
I try to write a journal, but fiction is just more fun.
I hope my homemade rosewater doesn’t spill on my bed.
I am a hippie, an artist, and a nerd.
I desire to rule the world and know my fatal flaw is pride.
I am a hippie, I am an artist, and I am a nerd.
And my case cannot be helped.

And for that I am grateful.

(bad joke)
Anyway, I know how original I am for writing the practically unheard of "I am" poem, but don't hold that against me.
It just looked like too much fun.
