Love to learn, learn to love

God how I love you
It hurts so much to say
It’s like I was in agony
And you took the pain away
So now I will follow you
Lead me through the war
Lead me through the blood and pain
That I would have relished in before
It’s all I can do
To keep my eyes off of you
I can’t help the way I feel
But my heart, oh God, please let it heal!
I used to fight and kill
I slaughtered and I slew
But now, now this chill
That I get when I see you
It stays my hand
It stops my blade
Never can I rest
Until I see your smile made
God how I love you
It hurts so much to say
It’s like I was in agony
And you took the pain away
But don’t, don’t forget
I’m still a vampire
And if I’m freed, you can bet
You’d be dead before the moon rose higher
You’re the bloody cause
The reason why my heart burns
I’d have you in my jaws
Before the damn pain returns
I love you Buffy
But given half a chance
I’ll be dancing, full of glee
On your grave, our gothic romance
Finally at a close
I’ll be glad to see you go

The author's comments:
This is about Spike, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and his love/hatred for Buffy. I always thought their relationship was kind of interesting, and since he was a poet (kind of) back in the 18th century, I wondered about what he would write for Buffy. This is what sprang to mind.

Love this! It perfectly describes Spike's love, and I think it was a really interesting idea :) Good word choice too!

This is so creative! I like how you took the point of view of Spike and made his story somewhat relatable. I was wondering if you could critique some stuff I've written?
