Pretend We Were In Winter
Pretend the sun is waking
in the midst of persistent
chilly atmospheres biting raw skin
contradicting awaited rebirth.
Pretend the rain was irritating
and prickly on frostbite faces
when clearly clouds stole thunder.
Remember those warm memories?
Those ones without umbrellas that don’t exist?
Well
pretend déjà vu is
just around the corner
the only difference being
the light of awakenings.
