Bittersweet Nostalgia
As if it were only yesterday,
I walked the halls of this elementary school,
Conversing with new found friends,
Brimming with childish jokes and joy,
But what lies before me now,
Is a mass of memories mangled beyond recognition.
It may be gone today,
But its walls still stand tall,
Within the boundaries of my mind,
Where I may re-enter that school,
And remember what it feels like
To be a child again.
