your name is a sigh on my lips

A sigh
lingers longer than a scream
it dwells within us
and takes up residence in our very
souls,
a sigh
gives life to desperation while
a scream,
it kills all sense of longing, it simply
murders
joy,
a sigh can be wistful, it can be
sweet, it can
haunt
but a scream is a scream is
a scream,
that's why I sigh your name, though we burn—I know
that there's more to us
that that.

Ooooh, this is chilling. I especially like the way you sort of turn it upside-down at the end. The last line is just like...Wow, haha. To me, it seems like you are pointing out the fact that few relationships are ever cut and dry, and perhaps that passion is sometimes a quiet sort of emotion. Great work!

Ha, LOVE. I think my favourite lines were the beginning two "A sigh/lingers longer than a scream." This whole poem is just so..so...PICTUREABLE. Cause that's a word. I wish this had gotten an editor's choice because it's. So. True. Amazing work! Keep on writing <3
