Matchstick MAG

Men speak wistfully of children grown long
before their time,
but they know nothing of the heart and only of clocks,
because some things do not come
in steps, and
just as the cigarette lighter came before
the matchstick,
so was I seventy years old and staring Death
in the face before I learned
how to live.

Congrats, Jade! I'm so glad and happy that this is to be published. You truly desrve it. :) Your poem in a lot of ways, I can connect too. The may be short to some people, but it is perfect and filled with a beauty that I cannot or do not know how to explain. I just love this poem, too. Thank you so much, for sharing this, my friend! Wow! This is a really inspiring poem. I really love how you set up the story almost as a narrative. It is kind of a genius piece. I would like to see a lot more work from you, so keep it up!! Thank you for sharing your work!
