Seasons of Life
Dressed in a bright yellow sundress,
The little girl gazed at the smiling faces floating around her,
The sparkle in her eye was radiant like the Sun in the sky,
And she fervently hoped that the summer breeze would never stop blowing.
Soon came the torrents of rain,
The water washed the little girl’s wishes away,
The smiling faces hid under cups of steaming coffee,
As she quivered under her duvet, the thunder her only company.
As time rolled by, a shivering blanket settled,
The little girl’s yellow sundress faded into an impure white,
The flowers in her hair had shriveled and died,
Along with the smiles on the smiling faces.
The little girl got up one morning,
To her surprise, the radiant Sun had returned,
She prayed that this year it would stay and keep her safe,
But the cycle of life, and the weather, was essentially the same.
The little girl heard the summer breeze,
The torrents of rain and the shivering blanket whisper to her quietly,
“The secret of life lies in a boomerang.”
The little girl smiled and whispered back, “Boomerang.”
It all rushed back to her.
