"Anything worth doing, is worth over-doing. Moderation is for cowards." -Lone Survivor

Desire, as strong as gravity’s pull (lost the fire, a heart so full)
(I see the path but cannot stay true) Follow in his footsteps, a father’s shoes
Find a ladder, trying, climbing higher (No more laughter, a trespasser, a liar)
(The footprints are straight but my road is crooked)
All I was promised (These dreams become haunted) but in the end

you

are

all

I

wanted

The author's comments:
This piece is about my dad. The style was influenced and inspired by E.E Cummings. Every boy wants to aspire to be their dad. But in my case, there were never footprints to follow in. No admirable characteristics to emulate and no sense of pride. This poem is the collection of my thoughts on this subject.
