copper breath

i can taste your copper breath,
it lights a fuse
within me
and the wires in my veins are exposed
and frayed,
but somehow they still work
my pulse
quivers as you touch me,
like the strings of Cupid's bow
when he shot
me
and like St. Sebastian I'm pinned
and held
by my own lacerations
knowing...
you do not bleed as well
