Waking up is no longer the same
I rolled over and saw you were gone
You left just as fast as you came
Your footsteps were still visible on the snowy lawn

Although your visit was short
I can still smell you in the white sheets on my bed
I can’t help but wonder why you had to abort
Remember when you told me your favorite color was red?

Where did I go wrong?
You taught me how to play the guitar
Oh, how you lost yourself in the song
Did you leave in her car?

I saw you and her together on my computer screen
Pieces are missing, yet some fall into place
You have the prettiest soul I’ve ever seen
I thought I took your breath away in that dress made of lace

You won’t return any of my calls
Please just tell me how I did you wrong
How am I supposed to see you in the school halls?
Every second you are gone seems so long

I’ve never been hurt like this before
Why did you change your mind so suddenly?
I can feel my heart drawing closer to the floor
I hate to admit that she is so lovely

What you did was not kind
Now the only part I have left of you
Is this tea stain your cup left behind
How do you do what you do?
