It's not that we've lost faith

In truth that you've embraced

I can't break its hug,

I just feel enslaved.

I want you to dream here

I want to stay here

It's just that I know,

Your time to leave has come near.

I feel myself faraway

But I can't just run away

If I do so,

To your fate I will disobey.

They say if you mess with time

I will be entwined

You cannot, abandon destiny

You cannot, leave me behind.

I can't fly to you there

Like the flower petals here

If you tell me to flutter my wings,

I will change kismet's way everywhere.

Why are you in the darkness alone?

The answer just sits their unknown

If you had just whispered my name,

There I would be- I would have flown.

What if we unraveled from time's mess?

What if we overwhelm our nest?

Follow my flickers, follow your light

Make your stars' shadow luminesce.

Before you, there was a blizzard- and I was appeared

Just like you- I was feart and I was feared

But all I did was flitter my wings

And all the winds were henceforth veered.

You are slowly falling for my whispers

Come forth! But be a little quicker

For if you don't come back by midnight,

In the chiaroscuro you will be held a prisoner.

Turn the pages a little more

Swim farther away from the shore

Do it, and you will face the consequence

Of all of the worlds being yours.

Into the tempting water we immerse

But don't dive too deep- I might be adverse

Let's play with the strings a little bit,

Let's cause ripples in the universe.

The author's comments:

This poem, as the title hints, is a song to by the Blue Butterfly to a person who is going to make a life-changing decision. In chaos theroy, the butterfly effect states that a small change can make much bigger changes happen; one small incident can have a big impact on the future. The idea came to be known as the “butterfly effect” after a mathemtician suggested that the flap of a butterfly's wings might ultimately cause a tornado. It is often represented as a blue butterfly.

The interpretation is entirely up to the reader. However, the main idea of this poem revolves around the Butterfly trying to 'tempt' the person into making a decision- whether it be wrong or right.

The lines "I want you to stay here", or "But I can't just runaway" seem to suggest that the butterfly is aware of which decision to make, but cannot apprise the person of the truth or else it will be going against fate. The Butterfly states that the person can neither abandon destiny, nor leave the butterfly behind.

The Butterfly waits for the person to make their choice. It can be interpreted that the Butterfly is eagerly awaiting for the choice to be made (due to the frequent questions being posed to the person), fueled by its desire to fly.

At the end, the Butterfly warns the person that the Butterfly might be dangerous, and ends its song with asking the person to cause ripples (or changes) in the Universe.
