Couple of the Year
glances and brushes
this is what it's about
slyly uncertain
I can almost see it now
Couple of the Year
paid for their love in tears
broke all the rules, played their closest for fools
for disappointments and unmet expectations
say they made the jump
said all the right junk
what then, what now
she doesn't know how
to make him happy
Couple of the Month
fought for the right stuff
did it all wrong, lose in the ruins
fighting and pain, this wasn't our best idea
dating for months
everyone is accustomed to it
everyone begins to forget, and to assume
they are stifled - choking and suffocating
can't stand to be near him anymore
Couple of the Week
she's stopped to eat
he's in a daze, no one is paying attention anyway
and they can't wrap their minds around why it isn't going so well
growing distant she can't feel his touch
and he can't feel his heart
when he's near her
he's not who he was
she's not who she acts
everything is falling, falling, falling falling
Couple of the Moment
they didn't realize their friendship was doomed
to end in a relationship
who knew
