Fading Light

I tried to make you laugh on those dark days.

I told you I’d always be there for you.

I saw that smile return to your face.

I  assumed you were getting better too.

How wrong I was left me haunted for days.

You felt like there was no other way out.

Your sadness took a piece of me away.

I pray you can resurface from your doubt.

You are a special person in my heart.

I love you for you and will hold you tight .

You have always been strong right from the start.

I hope you know I’ll be right by your side.

Everyone grapples, you are not alone.

I want you to know that you do belong.

This sonnet is about a friend of mine who almost lost her life to depression.
