Winters Scruple
When summers burnt and foggy winters welcome,
As darkness trumps in your shallow waters,
I wade in that icy river, lonesome.
Snow is shelter, in winter of daughters.
Your twilight tears stain the crooked boardwalk,
You die with the sun, but reborn in June
Copper auras wither, on your jagged beanstalk.
Winter solstice triumphs, greeted by the moon.
And stars cry out in defeat, while shadows snicker.
And mundane ice observes the scene, unanticipated,
Unaffected by years regret, patient for suns flicker,
You see no hope for further seeking, dissipated.
If I could, I’d pierce my sun to your pupil,
Enlightened by light, darkness vanished with winters scruple.
