Review on Elephant Run by Roland Smith

I read Elephant Run by Roland Smith. This is a novel about fourteen-year-old Nick Freestone whose house was blown up in an air raid in England in 1941. His mother and stepfather send him to Burma to live at the family's teak plantation with his father.

When Nick arrives, he is eager to learn about the family business about teak trees and timber elephants, but trouble comes quickly to the plantation. The Japanese invade Burma, take over the plantation, and take Nick's father away. In this unforgettable tale, Nick and his friend Mya have to find a way to escape from the Japanese and find their families.

I found this book interesting because it opens up a new world of WWII that doesn't get covered in most historical fiction books. I also found this book surprising and action-filled; I didn't know where this book would lead me next.

I would recommend Elephant Run to readers who want to add some adventure into their everyday lives.
