Guilt
Guilt is a river
Pounding, twisting into forever
I miss you
I miss the memories too
But the paper crumpled up
Can’t be perfect again
Guilt is a barrier
A frontier you don’t want to cross
It’s not like me to walk away,
But I tire of waiting for you to ask me to stay
You’ve had your turn
Now let me wait for mine…
And more than anything,
Guilt is a friend
A constant reminder of the inevitable end
Of what once was, and will never be again.
